Adorable illustrations bring this wonderful board book to life. Children will love the vivid colors and love to crunch and munch along with the caterpillar. The story is brought to life with many creatures telling the caterpillar that he is going to have to get used to the idea that he is not made for flying. A beautiful butterfly encourages him that his dreams of flying may come true one day. Of course, we all can guess what happens next! My only complaint is that birds do not talk to caterpillars without eating them, but on the other hand, birds and caterpillars don’t talk at all, so I guess in this fantasy world maybe birds don’t eat caterpillars.
A lovely book that will encourage fun interaction with young children. This board book goes beyond the basics to achieve more than most. I highly recommend it!
My son is fascinated with caterpillars, he’s a little old now for board books I guess at 5. Just stopping by to say hi on the comment challenge.
We’re giving away three copies of The Magician’s Book: A Skeptic’s Adventures in Narnia by Laura Miller at Book Dads.
This would be a great companion read for “Inch by Inch” or “The Hungry Caterpillar.”
Steven- Thanks for stopping by! I have a 5 year old who also loves caterpillars. I bought the book for my toddler but both my 5 yo and 8 yo will sit down to read it with us. The illustrations are very attractive- even to me.
Christine- I agree with The Hungry Caterpillar but I’ve never read Inch by Inch, I’ll have to look it up. Thanks for the tip!
